Amarnath controversy

http://www.greaterkashmir.com/full_story.asp?Date=01_7_2008&ItemID=5&cat=14

The land transfer to SASB by the present Government has hurt the feelings of a common Kashmiri. The people of Kashmir are not opposite to the Amarnath Yatra or yatris. The yatra has been going on for decades and history reflects that yatris were roaming and traveling all around the valley without any fear. The people of Kashmir irrespective of religion have joined their Amarnath Piligrimage Chaddi on number of occasions. The Indian government and its stooges have now politicized and communalized this holy mission of Hindhus. The establishment of the shrine board is a step to form a base of hatred and confusion in the state. The yatri while traveling to Amar Nath should indeed enjoy all the basis facilities as per the human and natural law but these should not provided at the cost of Kashmir. The tourist department of the state could be utilized for providing facilities to the yatris on the occasion of their yatra just like Saudia Arabia Government provides facilities to Hujaj every year. The tourist department can also earn a lot of revenue on providing the amenities to the yatris for the development of the economy of the state. The transferring of land to SASB is clear aggression on valley’s economy, topography, environment and culture and the order of transferring the land should be revoked forthwith so that the violence in the valley on the issue is ended. The prevailing turmoil across the state over the transfer of land is the creation of those stooges who are luring the people of Kashmir on the slogan of peace and development. It is unfortunate that the people who consented for transfer of land to SASB in the present government are harping their concern over the issue. This is all to befool the innocent Kashmiri just to gain momentum in the coming Assembly Elections. The political parties working at the behest of Central Government have done nothing for the people of Kashmir except to enjoy the VIP facilities across India. They can sell and put on auction this paradise on earth to their own profit. Muhammad Ayub Mir Email

Jammu, June 30: Lawyers fraternity in Jammu has decided to jump into the land controversy after the government decided to retain the management of Amarnath pilgrimage. Sources told News Agency of Kashmir that Bar Association Jammu has decided to launch a massive agitation in case the government failed to revoke the decision. An emergent meeting of BAJ was held, here today, where members decided to constitute a six member committee to meet Governor NN Vohra. “The committee will urge the governor to revoke the decision regarding management of yatra and in case the demand is not met, Bar Association will launch a massive agitation against the government”, one of the Bar member present in the meeting disclosed. Sources said that the members, who spoke on the occasion, severally condemned the political gimmick of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), which they said was responsible for politicizing the land transfer matter. “PDP Patron Mufti Sayeed and Muzaffar Hussain Baig have been vomiting venom against Jammu”, one of the members said adding, “The lawyers of the region can not be mute spectator of the illegalities of the government and this time the Kashmiri leadership will be given a befitting reply”. It is pertinent to mention here that the normal work remained paralysed in all the courts of Jammu including High Court as the Bar decided to suspend work in protest against the decision by the governor.
